SAC Places Four Men’s, Three Women’s Teams in Latest NCAA Basketball Regional Rankings
A total off seven teams from the SAC – four men’s and three women’s – have been ranked in this week’s NCAA Division II basketball southeast region polls, it was announced Wednesday afternoon.
INDIANAPOLIS – A total off seven teams from the SAC – four men's and three women's – have been ranked in this week's NCAA Division II basketball southeast region polls, it was announced Wednesday afternoon.
In the men's poll, Lincoln Memorial maintained its No. 2 ranking from a week ago. The Railsplitters are 22-2 overall, 18-2 in the SAC and will be the top seed in the upcoming Food Lion SAC Basketball Championship.
Anderson also stayed at its same position from last week, checking in at No. 5. AU is followed by Carson-Newman, which moved up to No. 6, and Newberry, which climbed a spot to No. 9.
On the women's side, Lenoir-Rhyne was once again the region's top-ranked team. L-R is tied atop the SAC standings at 15-5, and is 20-5 overall.
Wingate – also 15-5 in the SAC – checked in at No. 3 this week, and Lincoln Memorial is No. 10. WU is 19-5 overall, while LMU is 14-10 overall and 13-7 in the conference.
The regional rankings are the official poll used by the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Basketball Committees during championship selections and bracketing. Next week will be the season's final poll.
