SAC Places Seven Teams in Final NCAA Basketball Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS – In the final release before NCAA Division II Basketball Championship selections, a total of seven men's and women's basketball teams from the SAC have earned spots in the latest Southeast Region rankings, the association announced on Wednesday.
The regional rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA Basketball Committees during the championship selection process, which will take place on Sunday.
In the men's release, Lincoln Memorial retained its No. 1 ranking and is one of three teams from the SAC to earn spots in the poll. The Railsplitters won the regular-season conference title after going 15-3 in league games.
If LMU can hold on the top spot in the rankings, it will host the regional round of the NCAA Tournament.
Wingate is No. 7 in the men's poll, followed by No. 9 Anderson. Both teams finished tied for second in the conference standings at 14-4.
In the women's poll, SAC regular-season champion Anderson is the SAC's highest-ranked team at No. 3. Just behind AU is Lenoir-Rhyne at No. 4. Anderson went 14-4 in the conference, while Lenoir-Rhyne finished one game back at 13-5.
Also earning spots in the women's rankings were No. 9 Newberry and No. 10 Catawba. The Indians finished third in the final SAC standings at 12-6, while the Wolves placed fourth at 11-7.
