Carson-Newman’s Martin Named to Men’s Basketball All-District Team
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman senior Jonathan Martin (Corryton, Tenn.) has been named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV Men's basketball team. Martin is a first-team selection.
Martin has a 3.84 grade point average and is an Accounting major. He is a two-time member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, has been on the Carson-Newman Dean's List every semester and is a member of the Institute of Managerial Accountants.
Martin averages 13 points per game for the Eagles this season and is among the SAC leaders in field goal percentage at 67.2%. He leads the team in rebounds with 6.9 per game and is also the team leader in blocked shots with 21.
Martin will now advance the national ballot for Academic
All-American consideration. Members of the Academic All-District
team are determined by a vote by members of the College Sports
Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) from District IV which
include colleges and universities from Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan,
Ohio and Tennessee.
