SAC Places Seven on D2Football.com All-America Team
D2Football.com has announced its 2013 All-America Team, featuring seven student-athletes from the SAC.
LIBERTY, Mo. – D2Football.com has announced its 2013 All-America Team, featuring seven student-athletes from the SAC.
The SAC's representation is led by first-team defensive back Michael Green of national runner-up Lenoir-Rhyne. Green – the SAC Defensive Player of the Year – anchored a dominant Bears defense, finishing with a league-high eight interceptions along with 88 tackles.
Newberry offensive lineman Jamal Ellis was named to the Second Team. The senior helped Newberry finish in the top five in the SAC in both passing and rushing offense.
Five more SAC players earned honorable mention accolades: Tusculum quarterback Bo Cordell, Newberry receiver Corey Washington, Lenoir-Rhyne offensive lineman Joe Ray, Mars Hill defensive lineman Troy Harris and Lenoir-Rhyne defensive lineman Blake Baker.
Cordell led the SAC with 3,920 passing yards, Washington ranked second in receiving touchdowns with 13, Ray fronted an offensive unit that led the nation in rushing, Harris led the league with 20.5 tackles-for-loss, and Baker led the conference with 14.5 sacks.
