27 SAC Football Players Selected to Daktronics All-Region Team
Tusculum quarterback Bo Cordell has been named the Daktronics Football Super Region II Offensive Player of the Year, and leads a list of 27 SAC players selected to the Daktronics All-Region Team.
NEWBERRY, S.C. – Tusculum quarterback Bo Cordell has been named the Daktronics Football Super Region II Offensive Player of the Year, and leads a list of 27 SAC players selected to the Daktronics All-Region Team.
Cordell – a Harlon Hill Trophy finalist and the all-time NCAA Division II leader in total yards and passing yards – is one of 10 players from the SAC named to the All-Super Region II First Team offense. Cordell is joined on the first-team offense by Tusculum tight end Wesley Powell, Newberry receiver Corey Washington, Mars Hill running back Shaikel Davis, Carson-Newman linemen Robbie Ignagni and Alex Taylor, Lenoir-Rhyne lineman Joe Ray, Newberry lineman Jamal Ellis, Newberry return specialist Jason Livingston and Lenoir-Rhyne kicker Zach Neumann.
Five more SAC players earned spots on the first-team defense, including the conference's Defensive Player of the Year, Lenoir-Rhyne safety Michael Green. L-R defensive lineman Blake Baker, Mars Hill lineman Troy Harris, Carson-Newman linebacker Jaycob Coleman and Newberry linebacker Edmond Robinson join Green on the first-team defensive unit.
The All-Region Second Team includes 12 SAC players – eight on defense and four on offense. Claiming spots on the second-team offense are Mars Hill receiver Dimitri Holmes, Tusculum receiver Justin Houston, Carson-Newman running back Brandon Baker and Lenoir-Rhyne lineman Zack Bunn. Meanwhile, Carson-Newman lineman Javaris Neal, Newberry lineman Letavious Williams, Tusculum linebacker Brian Alexander, Mars Hill linebacker Sammy Siasia, Lenoir-Rhyne linebacker Tanner Botts, Newberry safety David Davis, Catawba safety L.J. McCray and Newberry punter Kyle Clark were each selected to the second-team defense.
The Daktronics All-Region Teams are selected by representatives from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
