TC’s Judge, Newton Earn D2Football.com National Recognition
LIBERTY, Mo. --- Tusculum College's Ra'Shun Judge and Cory Newton have earned D2Football.com National Player of the Week Honorable Mention recognition announced College officials Tuesday. Judge received defensive honors, while Newton was honored for his special teams play. Judge receives his second D2Football.com nod this season, while Newton garners his third honor
Judge, a 5-11, 190, senior from Hueytown, Ala., had two interceptions, returning one for a school-record 82-yard touchdown, as Tusculum defeated Lenoir-Rhyne, 44-7. The former Hueytown High School standout was in on four tackles and had one QB hurry in the Pioneer win. Judge also had two punt returns for 15 yards. For his efforts, he was named South Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
Newton (Spring Lake, N.C./Pine Forest HS), a 6-3, 200, senior, averaged 53.5 yards over four punts. He had three 50+ yard punts, including a long of 61. Newton also had a 16-yard pass on a fake punt and was named SAC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Tusculum closes out its season on Saturday when they travel to
Mars Hill College for a 1:30 p.m. contest from Meares Stadium.
