Tusculum’s Pritchett, Dunn Named to Academic All-District Football Team
STAMFORD, Conn. --- Tusculum College's Craig Pritchett and Alan Dunn have been named to the 2003 CoSIDA Academic All-District IV College Division Football Team announced College officials Thursday morning. Pritchett, a senior linebacker from Rossville, Ga., earned a spot on the All-District First Team, while Dunn, a senior offensive tackle from Chattanooga, Tenn. garnered Second Team recognition.
Pritchett, returns to the Academic All-District team, earning a spot on the Second Team last season. The Ridgeland High School graduate will be playing in his 43rd career game this weekend when the Pioneers host Mars Hill College in the regular-season finale. Pritchett was named the 2002 South Atlantic Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year while earning All-Conference Second Team honors on the field.
Pritchett has a 3.73 cumulative grade point average majoring in Graphic Design. He is a member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, the Dean's List and the Tusculum Athletic Director's Honor Roll. Earlier this season, Pritchett became the first Tusculum student-athlete to be named to the American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team which recognizes football players across the country for community service. Only 22 players in the country receive this prestigious award and Craig was one of only three players from Division II to earn this honor.
Pritchett advances to the Academic All-American ballot, which will be announced in December.
Dunn, a 6-7, 320-pound graduate from Boyd Buchanan High School, earns Academic All-District honors for the first time. Dunn earned All-American distinction last season and was the 2002 recipient of the Jacobs Blocking Trophy, awarded to the best offensive lineman or blocking back in the South Atlantic Conference. He is a two-time All-Conference and All-Region selection and was preseason All-American this year.
Dunn has a 3.36 cumulative GPA while majoring in History with a minor in Political Science. He is a member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
The Academic All-District team is selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America from institutions within District IV, which includes the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.
