SAC Baseball Players Continue to Land on All-America Lists
Two more Division II Baseball All-America lists were released on Tuesday night, with a total of six SAC student-athletes earning accolades.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Two more Division II Baseball All-America lists were released on Tuesday night, with a total of six SAC student-athletes earning accolades.
SAC players accounted for four spots on the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) team, while the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) team recognized four players from the conference as well.
Wingate outfielder Casey Allison was named to both teams, earning first-team accolades from the NCBWA and second-team honors from the ABCA. Allison led the SAC with 22 home runs and 68 RBI in 2012.
Tusculum's Craig Goodman was also named to both All-America teams. The 2012 SAC co-Pitcher of the Year was a third-team selection by the ABCA, and was recognized as an honorable mention pick by the NCBWA.
Goodman went 10-0 with a 2.00 ERA for Tusculum in 14 starts this season.
Carson-Newman's Kyle Koeneman, the conference's Player of the Year, was a first-team pick by the ABCA after hitting 20 home runs and 16 doubles and leading the league with a .548 on-base percentage.
He was joined on the ABCA team by Tusculum outfielder Alexi Colon, a third-team selection.
Two more SAC players – TC third baseman Cade Stallings and Lincoln Memorial second baseman Andrew Rodriguez -- were honorable mention selections by the NCBWA.
