Three SAC Baseball Players Named To Capital One Academic All-District Team
Three baseball student-athletes from the South Atlantic Conference have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Catawba College relief pitcher Wil Huneycutt was named to the All-District III first team. Lincoln Memorial University outfielder Cody Pack was named to the All-District IV first team. Wingate University outfielder Casey Allison was named to the All-District III second team.
Selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, the teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom.
In order to earn recognition, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution and are voted upon by CoSIDA members. They must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing and must have completed at least one full academic year at their respective institution.
As first-team all-district selection, Huneycutt and Pack are eligible for consideration nationally as an academic All-American.
District III (college division) includes all non-NCAA Division I schools (Division II, III and NAIA) in Florida, Georgia, Virginia and North and South Carolina.
District IV (college division) includes all non-NCAA Division I colleges and universities from Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Ohio and Michigan.
Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.

Catawba
Wil Huneycutt (Locust, NC/W. Stanly HS) leads the league with nine saves and 29 total appearances. He has posted a 2.61 ERA. In the classroom, he has attained a 3.97 GPA while majoring in business administration. Huneycutt has been on the Dean's List for six semesters and the President's List twice. He was an Academic All-District selection last year.
He was the 2011 selection for the SAC Baseball Scholar-Athlete Award. He is a Presidential Scholarship recipient, and a member of two honor societies. He is a member of the Catawba Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and has volunteered with Second Harvest Food Bank's Mobile Food Pantry, as well as helping to raise money for Make-A-Wish.
Lincoln Memorial
LMU senior outfielder Cody Pack has been named to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District IV Baseball First Team as selected by the membership of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Pack, a native of Andersonville, Tennessee, carries a 3.80 grade point average as a Pre-med major and earns first-team honors for the second consecutive year.

This season on the field Pack hit .313 with 11 home runs, 56 RBIs and a .570 slugging percentage.
Off the field he earned the B. Frank Turner Award for the second straight year. He has also been named to the Dean's List every semester he has been at LMU and is a member of the LMU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Alpha Chi.
In the community he has been involved with the Head Start program in his hometown of Andersonville, Tennessee, and has participated in youth baseball improvement programs in Owensboro, Kentucky, while playing summer league baseball there. Along with the team, he helped build houses for Habitat for Humanity during the fall.
For the past three years, Pack has volunteered as a helper during the Middlesboro ROHO Club's annual shopping spree for a select group of area needy children and has participated in LMU's annual Youth Coaches Clinic while also being an active member in his church.
Wingate
Wingate University junior outfielder Casey Allison (Horse Shoe, N.C.) has been named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-District III baseball second team (college division).

A graduate of West Henderson High School, Allison earns Academic All-District III honors for the first time in his career.
This year, Allison is hitting .282 with 23 doubles, nine home runs and 45 RBI. His 23 doubles are second on the team charts. He had two doubles and one home run as the Bulldogs went undefeated en route to the Food Lion SAC tournament championship title. A Social Studies Education major, Allison holds a 3.56 GPA.
Allison was named South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week on March 14. For the week ending March 12, Allison hit .476 (10-for-21) with three homers, three doubles, 10 RBI and eight runs scored. He helped Wingate to a three-game sweep of SAC foe Lenoir-Rhyne as the Bulldogs compiled a 4-1 record during the time frame.
As a first-year Bulldog, Allison was named the 2009 South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year. During his inaugural season, he hit .336 with 19 doubles, three triples, seven home runs and 35 RBI. Allison has two rings during his Wingate tenure, as the Bulldogs won the 2010 SAC regular season crown his sophomore season. Allison has started every game since he arrived on Wingate's campus (154).
"Casey Allison is a tremendous representative of our baseball program and Wingate University," Wingate head coach Jeff Gregory says. "Casey has established himself as one of the top student-athletes at Wingate and in the SAC."
