Carson-Newman’s Brandon Burchfield Named Academic All-American

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.-- Carson-Newman centerfielder Brandon Burchfield has been named first team Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America and ESPN the Magazine.
Burchfield, who earned second team Academic All-American honors in 2006, maintained a 4.0 grade point average in business administration in 2007. He was named the 2007 South Atlantic Conference's Scholar Athlete for baseball and one of three Eagle Club Academic Athletes of the Year.
He batted .289 this season to help the Eagles claim the 2007 South Atlantic Conference Tournament championship and a berth in the NCAA Division II South Regional tournament.
