Experienced Broadcasters to Call SAC Basketball Championship Webcasts
James Thurn, Ralph Patterson and Kanetra Queen – a trio of broadcasters with significant experience in college athletics – will make up the on-air talent for the 2014 Food Lion SAC Basketball Championship live webcasts. All three individuals also called games at last year’s championship.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – James Thurn, Ralph Patterson and Kanetra Queen – a trio of broadcasters with significant experience in college athletics – will make up the on-air talent for the 2014 Food Lion SAC Basketball Championship live webcasts. All three individuals also called games at last year's championship.
Each of the four SAC Basketball Championship semifinals and both title games will be streamed live on the SAC Digital Network at no cost to the viewer. The semifinals are set to take place on Saturday, March 8, followed by the finals on March 9.
Thurn will handle play-by-play responsibilities for the men's and women's games. He is the current radio play-by-play announcer for Lander University baseball, and recently concluded a four-year stint at WCCP-FM in Clemson, S.C., where he hosted the daily "James Thurn Show."
Thurn will be joined on the men's webcasts by Ralph Patterson, whose on-air experience includes work for ESPN3, ESPN Regional Television, Fox Sports South, SportsSouth, MASN and Comcast Sports Southeast. He has also hosted pre and post-game shows for the Clemson Tigers Football Network.
Queen will once again provide color commentary for the women's games. She is an analyst for Clemson women's basketball games on WCCP and is a former Clemson Director of Women's Basketball Operations.
The Wingate University Sports Network will produce the webcasts for the SAC Digital Network, under the direction of Ryan Brown.
