The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Volleyball Players of the Week, Nov. 14 | WATCH
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Anderson outside hitter Marissa Mitter has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, while Wingate setter Rachel Alles was tabbed AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Specialist of the Week for matches played Nov. 6 - 12, the League announced today.
Mitter, a senior from Redondo Beach, Calif., helped the Trojans end the regular season on a 21-game winning streak. She recorded her 13th double-double of the season with 19 kills and 10 digs in a three-set victory at Tusculum on November 10. She followed that up with 13 kills and seven digs as Trojans picked up their 21st victory in a row with a three-set sweep at Mars Hill on November 11. She leads the SAC in kills (367) and points (409.5), while ranking second in kills per set (3.86/set), points and points per set (4.3). This is her fourth Player of the Week honors this season.
Alles, a sophomore from Tinley Park, Ill., recorded 85 assists and 21 digs as Wingate finished the regular season 2-0. In a four-set victory over Carson-Newman on November 10, she recorded 45 assists and 17 digs. A day later she followed it up with 40 assists and four digs as Wingate took the three-set sweep of Lincoln Memorial. The award is her third Specialist of the Week honor this season.
