The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Volleyball Players of the Week, Sept. 12 | WATCH
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman outside hitter Marnie Streeter has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, while Carson-Newman setter Morgan Ballard was tabbed AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Specialist of the Week for matches played Sept. 4 - 10, the League announced today.
Streeter, a sophomore from Goldvein, Va., recorded 42 kills and hit .244 in two victories over the weekend. In a 3-1 September 8 victory over Tusculum, she tallied 20 kills and two service aces. Streeter followed that effort with 22 kills to lead the Eagles to a 3-1 victory at Mars Hill on September 9. This award is her first of the season.
Ballard, a sophomore from Weaverville, N.C., recorded 77 digs in Carson-Newman's two victories over the weekend. On September 9, she recorded 58 digs to help the Eagles to a 3-1 win over the Lions as she is currently ranked second in the nation in digs per set with seven. Only eight players in NCAA history (across all three divisions) have had more digs in a match. She also came up with 19 digs at Tusculum as the eagles picked up a 3-1 win over the Pioneers on September 8. The award is her first Specialist of the Week honor this season.
