The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Volleyball Players of the Week, Oct. 24 | WATCH
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Anderson outside hitter Marissa Mitter has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, while Anderson setter Emily Conlin was tabbed AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Specialist of the Week for matches played Oct. 16 - 22, the League announced today.
Mitter, a senior from Redondo Beach, California, helped the Trojans move in to a tie for first place in the SAC standings. She recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 10 kills on 31 attacks in a sweep of Queens on October 17. She followed that up with 19 kills and 61 attacks as Anderson's four set victory ended then No. 21 Wingate's bid at an undefeated season. She leads the SAC in kills, while ranking second in kills per set (3.81/set), points and points per set. This is her second Player of the Week honors this season.
Conlin, a sophomore from Glendale, Arizona, recorded 95 assists and 12 digs as the Trojans extended their unbeaten streak to 13 matches. In a three set victory over Queens, she totaled 45 assists (15.00/set) and eight digs. Then she concluded her week with 50 assists and four digs in four sets as Anderson became the first team to beat then No. 21 Wingate this season. She leads the SAC in assists per set (11.87/set) and service aces, while ranking second in total assists and aces per set. She has dished out 40-plus assists on 10 occasions, while reaching the 50-plus assist plateau three times. The award is her first Specialist of the Week honor this season.
