The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Volleyball Players of the Week, Sept. 6 | WATCH
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate outside hitter Katie Bludau has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, while Queens' setter Sydney Kunz was tabbed AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Specialist of the Week for matches played Aug. 31 – Sept. 3, the League announced today.
Bludau, a senior from Seabrook, Texas, recorded 56 kills, and hit .433 in four victories to open up the season for Wingate. She also averaged 4.31 kills per set to go along with 56 kills, 16 digs, six blocks and four aces over the weekend. After notching 14 kills and a .545 hitting percentage in a three set sweep of Francis Marion, Bludau piled up 17 kills, nine digs and four aces against Augusta, as she hit .469. She also hit .375 with 16 kills and three blocks in the Shorter sweep, while collecting nine kills in 18 swings against Winston-Salem State. This award is her first of the season.
Kunz, a senior from Germantown, Wis., leads the league with 184 assists after helping Queens to a 4-0 opening weekend. She highlighted her weekend with a season-high 58 assists and 17 digs in a 3-1 victory over Augusta. She averaged 12.27 assists per set and 2.67 digs per set overall in the four-game span at the Queens Invitational. The award is her first Specialist of the Week honor this season.
