ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The Tusculum Pioneers have been crowned the 2023 South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Champions for the first time in program history, defeating top-seeded Wingate on Thursday evening at the Rock Hill Sports and Events Center in Rock Hill, S.C.
The Pioneers claimed the first two sets 25-22 and 25-20. Wingate won the third set 25-13, and Tusculum took the fourth 25-22 to solidify the win. Emiah Burrowes recorded 16 kills and and 12 digs and for her efforts she was named the tournament MVP. With the win, Tusculum improved to 22-6 overall while Wingate fell to 27-2.
By securing the win, Tusculum earns an automatic bid to the 2023 NCAA DII Volleyball Tournament.
In addition to MVP honors for Burrowes, she earns a spot on the seven-member All-Tournament team. The team is as follows:
