The South Atlantic Conference Announces WePlayed Sports Volleyball Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Volleyball Players of the Week for matches played during the ninth week of the 2023 season. Wingate's Gabby Saye was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while Catawba's Riley Hill was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Saye, a sophomore from Edwardsville, Ill., needed just 41 swings to collect 24 kills, hitting an impressive .537 while adding eight digs and six blocks. Saye started her week with 10 kills in 15 swings at Newberry, hitting .667 with a pair of digs and a block. She had 14 kills as the Bulldogs handed Anderson their second league loss of the year, hitting .462 on the night while adding six digs and five blocks.

Hill, a freshman from Salisbury, N.C., totaled 38 digs in two SAC wins for Catawba. She went for 17 digs in the sweep at Coker on Tuesday before adding 21 more in the win over former SAC leader Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday. Hill also added eight assists and two services aces on the week.
