Wingate Sweeps 2022 SAC Volleyball Championships

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The Wingate Bulldogs took down the Carson-Newman Eagles 3-0 to claim the 2022 South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Tournament Championship title on Saturday (Nov. 12). Wingate won by scores of 25-22, 25-16, and 25-19 to improve to 29-2 overall. 

Wingate's Shannon Kasprak was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player after she had 4 kills, 31 aces, and 6 digs. Teammate Molly Lambillotte registered 7 kills and 4 service aces, while Maggie Mullen picked up 10 digs. Emily Johnson led the team in block assists with 4. 

For the Eagles, Julia Wheeler came up with 10 kills while teammate Abbey Hildenbrand added 26 assists and 6 digs. Additionally, Blake Cherry recorded 6 kills and 8 digs. 

 In addition to Kasprak's MVP honors, a seven-member All-Tournament team was named.
