The South Atlantic Conference Announces Volleyball Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its Volleyball Players of the Week for matches played during the sixth week of the 2022 season.  Lenoir-Rhyne right-side hitter Colette Romp was tabbed as the Offensive Player of the Week, while Wingate libero Maggie Mullen was named the Defensive Player of the Week. 

Romp, a senior from Simpsonville, S.C., led the Bears to a 2-1 record last week with wins over conference foes Catawba and Mars Hill. She was a force on offense as she had a .321 hitting percentage with 44 kills, including a season-high 20 kills in the Bears' 3-1 win. Romp also added six blocks to her stat totals for the week and she averaged 4 kills per set and 4.3 points per set for the week.

Mullen, a senior from Harrisburg, N.C., led the Bulldogs to a perfect 2-0 record last week with wins over Coker and Emory & Henry and Wingate has now won 17 consecutive matches and 29 straight sets. Mullen piled up 35 digs on defense for the Bulldogs, racking up 17 digs against Coker and 18 versus Emory & Henry. She also added eight assists in the two matches and finished the week with 5.83 digs per set.
