Lenoir-Rhyne's Prall Named an AVCA DII Volleyball All-American with Eight Making Honorable Mention
ROCK HILL, S.C. (theSAC.com) – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its 40th annual AVCA All-America teams for Division II Women's Volleyball Tuesday (Dec. 7). Lenoir-Rhyne's senior outside hitter Taylor Prall, was the only individual to be named a Second Team All-American with eight being named to the Honorable Mention All-American Team.
It was a memorable season for Prall and Lenoir-Rhyne. The Bears earned the top-seed in Southeast Region of the NCAA Tournament for the first time and made the school's second regional final appearance. Prall became the first Lenoir-Rhyne player to earn AVCA All-America honors.
Five SAC Schools had individuals featured in this year's AVCA DII Honorable Mention All-America team. Newberry had graduate student Natasha Bannister, Lenoir-Rhyne had senior libero Rachel Bewick, Tusculum added junior Emiah Burrowes and sophomore Carly Sosnowski, Anderson also had student-athletes with junior right-side Regan Duty and senior setter Madison Roy. Finally, Wingate had graduate student Sophie Schaff and senior Shannon Kasprak named to the Honorable Mention All-American Team.
The 2021 class includes 42 players—14 on the first, second, and third teams—from 29 schools. St. Cloud State and West Florida lead the way with two players each on the first team. Taylor Prall, who made the second team, is the first player ever from Lenoir-Rhyne to be an AVCA All-American, and Nebraska-Kearney's Squiers sisters, Madison (second team) and Anna (third team), are both All-Americans.
