Wingate Sweeps Final South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Volleyball Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com)– The South Atlantic Conference announced its final AstroTurf Offensive and Defensive Volleyball Players of the week for matches played during the eleventh week of the 2021 season. Wingate swept the awards with Molly Lambillotte taking the Offensive Player of the Week honor, while teammate Maggie Young was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Lambillotte, a senior outside hitter, helped lead the Bulldogs to a 2-0 record this past weekend. She opened the week with 15 kills, three assists, 16 digs, two service aces and three blocks against Queens. She went on to garner 13 kills, three assists, 17 digs, two service aces and two blocks in their win over Catawba. Overall, Geneva, ILL., native averaged 3.50 kills per set, 4.13 digs per set and 0.63 blocks per set. This is Lambillotte's first Offensive Player of the Week Honor this season. 

A junior middle hitter from Waxhaw, N.C., Young helped the Bulldogs solidify their wins over Queens and Catawba this past weekend. Overall, she averaged 1.50 blocks per set for 12 total blocks, 2.00 kills per set, and 1.13 digs per set for nine digs while also adding one assist. This is Youngs second Defensive player of the Week Honor this season.
