Wingate's Kasprak Named Sports Imports/AVCA Women's DII National Player of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate's Shannon Kasprak has been named this week's Sports Imports/AVCA Women's Div. II National Player of the Week.
Kasprak had a huge week for the Bulldogs, who picked up a pair of victories over teams ranked in the top six in the region. The two wins helped Wingate move into a first-place tie in the SAC standings entering the final week of the regular season.
Kasprak piled up an impressive 13.43 assists and 6.29 digs per set, adding 1.71 kills per set while hitting .417. She also had two aces and two blocks on the weekend, notching a pair of big double-doubles.
Kasprak started her weekend by handing out 52 assists and picking up a career-high 26 digs, adding six kills with a .417 hitting percentage in the 3-1 win over Mars Hill. She followed up with 42 assists and 18 digs in the sweep over Lenoir-Rhyne, adding six more kills, two aces and two blocks, while helping the Bulldogs hit .336 on the match, the highest hitting percentage allowed by the Bears all season. The 51 kills are the second-most Wingate has registered in a three-set match this year, while the eight errors are the fewest of the season.
Each week Sports Imports and the AVCA recognize deserving student-athletes at the collegiate level who have demonstrated outstanding play on the court throughout the week of competition. A Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week is named for the different NCAA Divisions in court volleyball during both the men's and women's season.
