The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf Volleyball Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com)– The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Offensive and Defensive Volleyball Players of the week for matches played during the ninth week of the 2021 season. Anderson's Madison Roy takes the Offensive Player of the Week honor, while Lenoir-Rhyne's Rachel Bewick was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Roy, a senior setter, helped lead the Trojans to a perfect 2-0 record this past weekend. She opened the week with 32 assists, four digs, five blocks, and one service ace in a sweep over Carson-Newman. Roy went on to garner 40 assists, seven digs and four blocks in another sweep over Lincoln Memorial. Overall, North Myrtle, S.C., native averaged 12 assists per set, 1.83 digs per set and 1.50 blocks per set. This is Roy's first Offensive Player of the Week Honor this season. 

A senior libero from Greenville N.C., Bewick helped the Bears to a 3-0 record this past weekend with sweeps over Lincoln Memorial, Catawba and Queens. Overall, she averaged 5.67 digs per set for 51 digs and 10 assists. Bewick is currently ranked second in the SAC for her digs per set with 5.71 and second for total digs with 491. This is Bewick's third Defensive Player of the Week Honor this season.
