The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf Volleyball Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com)– The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Offensive and Defensive Volleyball Players of the week for matches played during the sixith week of the 2021 season. Tusculum's Emiah Burrowes takes the Offensive Player of the Week honor, while Wingate's Maggie Young was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Burrowes, a junior outside hitter, helped lead the Pioneers to a 2-0 record this past weekend. She opened the week with nine kills, two digs and one assist in their sweep over Catawba. She closed the weekend with a 3-1 win over Queens adding 21 kills, two blocks and 10 digs. Overall, the Wesley Chapel, N.C., native averaged a .414 hitting percentage putting up 31 points. She is ranked third overall for kills per set and fourth in kills overall for the SAC. This is Burrowes' second Offensive Player of the Week Honor this season.

A junior middle blocker from Waxhaw, N.C., Young, helped the Bulldogs to a 2-0 record this past weekend. Overall, she averaged 1.83 blocks per set putting up 11 blocks, 0.83 digs per set with five digs, four service aces and five kills. Young is currently ranked first in the SAC for her hitting percentage of .333. This is Young's first Defensive player of the Week Honor this season.
