The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf Volleyball Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com)– The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Offensive and Defensive Volleyball Players of the week for matches played during the fifth week of the 2021 season. Wingate's Sophie Schaff takes the Offensive Player of the Week honor, while Newberry's Zoe Dinkins was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Schaff, a senior middle blocker, helped lead the Bulldogs to a 2-0 record this past weekend. She opened the week with 20 kills, one dig and four blocks in their five-set thrilling win over Anderson. She closed the weekend with a 3-1 win over Newberry adding 13 kills, four blocks and one dig. Overall, the Austin, Tx., native averaged a .417 hitting percentage putting up 38 points. She went into the weekend ranked second nationally in blocks and went on to add eight for a 0.89 blocking percentage. This is Schaff's first Offensive Player of the Week Honor this season. 

A senior middle blocker from Chapel Hill, N.C., Dinkins, helped the Wolves to a 2-1 record this past weekend. Overall, she averaged 1.40 blocks per set putting up 14 blocks, 0.70 digs per set with seven digs, four assists and 16 kills. Dinkins is currently ranked second in the SAC for blocks per set and with her six solo blocks, she now leads the league in solo block totals. This is Dinkins first Defensive player of the Week Honor this season.
