Tusculum Sweeps South Atlantic Conference Astroturf Volleyball Players of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com)– The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Offensive and Defensive Volleyball Players of the week for matches played during the third week of the 2021 season. Tusculum's Emiah Burrowes takes the Offensive Player of the Week honor, while teammate Carly Sosnowski was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Burrowes, a junior outside hitter, helped lead the Pioneers to a 3-0 record this past weekend, going double-digits in kills during three matches. She opened the weekend with 15 kills, seven digs and one block in their sweep over King, while going on to sweep Newbery with 16 kills, three service aces and three digs. To close the weekend Burrowes put up 14 kills, one service ace and six digs in their win over Anderson. Overall, the Wesley Chapel, N.C. native averaged 4.50 kills per set with a .470 hitting percentage, 16 digs 45 kills and five service aces on the weekend. This is Burrowes first Offensive Player of the Week Honor this season. 

A graduate student Libero from Oxford, Fla., Sosnowski, helped the Pioneers to their perfect 3-0 record this past weekend. Overall, she averaged 5.00 digs per set after picking up 50 digs with wins over King, Newberry and Anderson. She went on to collect four assists and four service aces and ranks fourth in the South Atlantic Conference in digs per set and third in total digs with 171 so far this season. This is Sosnowski's first Defensive Player of the Week Honor this season.
