The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf Volleyball Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com)– The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Offensive and Defensive Volleyball Players of the week for matches played during the second week of the 2021 season. Anderson's Regan Duty takes the Offensive Player of the Week honor, while Newberry's Amanda Berecz was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Duty, a senior right-side hitter, helped lead the Trojans to a 3-1 record this past weekend at the Rollins Invitational. She tallied 15 kills to match her season-high with a .424 hitting percentage to take down West Georgia in their first match of the weekend. Duty went on to help her team to two more wins over Rollins and Florida Southern putting her on the tournaments All-Tournament Team. Overall, the Inman, S.C., native averaged 2.80 kills per set with a .374 hitting percentage, six digs and had a total of 42 kills on the weekend. This is Duty's first Offensive Player of the Week Honor this season. 

A Senior Libero from Silver Springs, Fla., Berecz, helped lead the Wolves to a 4-2 record this past weekend at the Rollins Invitational. Overall, she averaged 5.81 digs per set, while picking up 122 digs. She went on to collect 17 assists and 15 service aces and ranks third in the South Atlantic Conference in digs per set and second in total digs. This is Berecz's first Defensive player of the Week Honor this season.
