CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TheSAC.com) – The Carson-Newman Eagles swept past the Queens Royals, 3-0, to take home the 2019 South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Tournament Championship on Saturday (Nov. 23).
It was a tight back and forth battle from start to finish as the Eagles won 25-22, 25-21 and 25-23.
Carson-Newman's Erin Edwards was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. She had 16 kills, a dig and three block assists in the win. Also earning double figure kills for the Eagles was Marnie Streeter with 12 kills. Streeter added 18 digs her stat line as well. Taylor Rohr dished out 27 assists and Morgan Ballard had a match-high 40 digs.
For the Royals, Casey Tarvin led the way with 12 kills and 20 digs, while Jaycee Jones had a team-high 21 digs.
In addition to Edwards MVP honors, a seven-member All-Tournament team was named.

With the win, the Eagles earn an automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Tournament. The full field for the NCAA Tournament will be announced on Monday (Nov. 25) at 7:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.
