South Atlantic Conference Teams Hold Steady with Six Spots in NCAA Volleyball Southeast Regional Rankings
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference posted six teams in the NCAA southeast regional rankings. Wingate checks in at the top, while Anderson is No. 4, and the 7-10 places are filled by Lincoln Memorial, Carson-Newman, Lenoir-Rhyne, and Mars Hill.
The Bulldogs have advanced to the SAC tournament semifinals with a win over Catawba, bringing their overall record to 27-1.
The Trojans (27-4) have also moved on to the second round of the conference tournament after defeating regionally-ranked Mars Hill in four sets.
With a 19-8 mark on the season, the Railsplitters have dropped down to No. 7 in the region, but have reached the SAC semiffinals after their victory over Queens.
The Eagles have won three in a row to earn their way to a 16-12 overall record, along with a sweep of Lenoir-Rhyne to advance to the semifinals, to maintain their No. 8 spot in the southeast.
The Bears have lost four in a row to slide down with a 17-11 overall mark and lost on the road in the SAC quarterfinals to Carson-Newman, but still hold to their No. 9 ranking in the region.
The Lions of Mars Hill earned a berth into the SAC tournament and took a set from Anderson, but fell. Once again, they round out the regional rankings at No. 10.
The rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA in the championship selection process and will continue to be released each week by the NCAA Division II Volleyball Committee up to the NCAA Championship selections.
