The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Volleyball Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Volleyball Players of the Week for matches played from Oct. 22 through Oct. 28. Tusculum's Cassie Born garnered the Player of the Week award, while Wingate's Rachel Alles was named Specialist of the Week.

A senior outside hitter, Born led the Pioneers to a 2-1 record for the week. In the SAC matches, the Horse Shoe, N.C. native recorded three double-doubles to total 55 kills, one assist, two service aces, 45 digs, and eight block assists. This is Born's first Player of the Week honor in 2018.

Alles, a junior setter, registered three more double-doubles during a 3-1 week for the Bulldogs. In 14 sets, the Tinley Park, Ill. native collected 10 kills on .409 percentage, 161 assists, one ace, 52 digs, and six block assists. This is Alles's third Specialist of the Week honor of the season.
