The South Atlantic Conference Announces Volleyball Players of the Week, Sept. 6
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) - The South Atlantic Conference announced it's AstroTurf SAC Volleyball Players of the Week for matches played Aug. 28 – Sept. 3. Meredith Jones of Queens University has been named Volleyball Player of the Week, while Emily Conlin of Anderson was named the Specialist of the Week.
Jones, a senior Outside Hitter from Blythewood, S.C., broke the school record at Queens for kills in a single match with 25 against USC-Aiken and led her team with 69 kills total for the weekend. She also ranked third on her team with 35 digs, while recording seven blocks and four service aces. Jones was named to the All-Tournament team for her performance. This honor marks her first Player of the Week award this season.
Emily Conlin, a freshman setter from Glendale, Arizona, played in all 10 sets over the weekend as she handed out 93 assists to help her team go 2-1. The Arizona native averaged 9.30 assists per set and also recorded four blocks and 18 digs over the weekend. In a pair of back to back wins over Clark Atlanta and West Georgia, Conlin combined to post 60 assists and followed with 33 assists in a 3-1 loss against Armstrong State. This was her first Specialist of the Week award on the season.
