The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Volleyball Players of the Week, Nov. 11

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf SAC Volleyball Players of the Week for matches played Nov. 3-9.  Carson-Newman middle hitter Jenna Wilson was tabbed the Player of the Week, while Wingate's Alison Cooke and Aleksandra Vrvilo of Brevard were tabbed Co-Specialists of the Week.

Wilson, a senior from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., put away 46 kills, hit .378 and posted 14 blocks to lead the Eagles to a 3-0 SAC record last week.  She posted double-digit kills in all three matches and hit above .400 in a pair of matches.  Wilson highlighted her week with 21 kills, four blocks and 23.5 points in a 3-1 win over Anderson on Nov. 7.  For the week, she recorded 55 points and came away with four digs.  The honor marks her second Player of the Week nod this season.

Cooke, a senior from Davidson, N.C., posted 122 assists and 12.20 assists per set to lead Wingate to three South Atlantic Conference wins last week.  She got her week started with 23 assists and 10 digs vs. Coker on Nov. 4 and followed that effort with 49 assists, 14 digs, three kills, two blocks and a pair of aces in a 3-1 win over Mars Hill on Nov. 7.  She closed out her week with 50 helpers, three kills, one ace, 10 digs and two blocks in the Nov. 8 win over Tusculum.  The award is her fourth Specialist of the Week plaudit this season.

Vrvilo, a sophomore from Beaverton, Ore., came away with 69 digs and 5.75 digs per set to help the Tornados to a 2-1 record last week.  Against Lenoir-Rhyne on Nov. 4, she dug up 24 balls and chipped in an ace.  Three days later at Catawba, Vrvilo recorded 24 digs and served up three aces in a 3-2 win.  The next day at Queens, she posted 21 digs and notched six aces.  The honor is her first Specialist of the Week selection this season.
