The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Volleyball Players of the Week, Oct. 21

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf SAC Volleyball Players of the Week for matches played Oct. 13-19.  Anderson middle blocker Hailey Pittman was tabbed the Player of the Week, while No. 7 Wingate setter Alison Cooke was named the Specialist of the Week.

Pittman, a senior from Altamonte Springs, Fla., put down 51 kills, 3.64 kills per set and hit .331 to lead the Trojans to three South Atlantic Conference wins last week and sole possession of third-place in the League standings.  She went for double-digit kills in two matches, including a season-best 24 kills in a 3-2 win at Tusculum on Oct. 17.  She also turned away 15 attacks and totaled eight digs, 61.5 points and a pair of service aces in the three-match span.  The honor marks her second Player of the Week nod this season.

Cooke, a senior from Davidson, N.C., dished out 102 assists and averaged 11.33 assists per set to help the Bulldogs to three South Atlantic Conference wins last week.  She got her week started with 23 assists, two aces, two digs and a block in a 3-0 win at Queens on Oct. 14.  Three days later at Brevard, Cooke handed out 41 helpers and came away with eight digs, two blocks and two kills in a 3-1 win.  She closed her week out with 38 assists, seven digs, three kills and one block as Wingate defeated Lenoir-Rhyne 3-0 on Oct. 18.  The award is her third Specialist of the Week plaudit this season.
