Final SAC Volleyball Weekly Awards go to Wingate’s Hilton, Lenoir-Rhyne’s Gottberg

ROCK HILL, S.C. – With the 2013 SAC volleyball regular season having concluded on Saturday, Wingate's Anna Hilton and Lenoir-Rhyne's Briana Gottberg have been voted as the conference's final weekly award winners, the league announced on Monday.

SAC Volleyball Player of the Week | Anna Hilton, Wingate

Hilton earns SAC Player of the Week honors for the fourth time this season after averaging 3.78 kills and 4.44 digs per set while hitting .317 in Wingate's victories over Coker, Tusculum and Mars Hill. The wins sealed a perfect 22-0 conference season for the Bulldogs.

Hilton opened her week with six kills and two digs in only two sets against Coker, but then posted double-doubles of 12 kills and 22 digs against Tusculum and 16 kills and 16 digs versus Mars Hill. The reigning SAC Player of the Year also added five blocks and nine assists on the week.

Hilton finished the regular season ranked second in the SAC in hitting percentage at .349.

SAC Volleyball Specialist of the Week | Briana Gottberg, Lenoir-Rhyne

Gottberg led Lenoir-Rhyne to a 3-0 week by averaging 12 assists and 3.1 digs per set in the Bears' matchups with Brevard, Carson-Newman and LMU. The unbeaten week secured the No. 3 seed for L-R in the upcoming Food Lion SAC Volleyball Championship.

Gottberg finished with 36 assists and nine digs against Brevard, 50 assists and 17 digs versus Carson-Newman, and 34 assists and five digs against LMU. She also recorded a total of eight blocks and five kills in the three matches.

The sophomore's average of 10.41 assists per set rank second in the conference.
