SAC Places Five in Initial NCAA Volleyball Regional Rankings
The SAC has accounted for five of the top six ranked teams in the season’s first NCAA Division II volleyball southeast region poll, led by No. 1 Wingate.
INDIANAPOLIS – The SAC has accounted for five of the top six ranked teams in the season's first NCAA Division II volleyball southeast region poll, led by No. 1 Wingate.
Wingate is 21-2 overall this season, and at 17-0 in the SAC has clinched at least a share of the program's eighth-straight conference title. The Bulldogs have won 18 matches in a row, and have dropped just six total sets in league play.
Just behind Wingate in the regional rankings is Lincoln Memorial at No. 3, followed by No. 4 Tusculum, No. 5 Newberry and No. 6 Lenoir-Rhyne.
Tusculum is 17-7 overall and remains alive for a share of the SAC title at 12-5 in conference play, while Newberry is 16-9 overall and 10-8 in the league.
LMU is currently 15-10 overall and 11-6 in the SAC, and Lenoir-Rhyne carries a record of 13-8 overall and 10-7 in the conference.
The regional rankings are the official poll used by the NCAA Division II Volleyball Committee during the championship selection process. A new poll will be released each week prior to selections on Nov. 25.
