Wingate’s Hilton, Tassone Named SAC Volleyball Players of the Week
After helping extend their team’s winning streak to 14-straight matches with a pair of conference victories, Wingate senior Anna Hilton and junior Stephanie Tassone have been voted as the SAC volleyball weekly award winners.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – After helping extend their team's winning streak to 14-straight matches with a pair of conference victories, Wingate senior Anna Hilton and junior Stephanie Tassone have been voted as the SAC volleyball weekly award winners.
SAC Volleyball Player of the Week | Anna Hilton, Wingate
Hilton averaged 3.67 kills per set while hitting .400 last week in the Bulldogs' road sweeps of Newberry and Anderson. She also averaged 2.17 digs per set in the two matches.
On Friday at Newberry, Hilton posted nine kills, seven digs and four blocks. She then tallied 13 kills, six digs and a block on Saturday at Anderson.
The defending SAC Player of the Year leads the conference in hitting percentage at .350, ranks third in blocks per set at 0.91 and is fifth in kills per set at 3.40.
SAC Volleyball Specialist of the Week | Stephanie Tassone, Wingate
Tassone piled up a total of 33 digs last week, leading a WU defensive effort that kept the Bulldogs unbeaten in SAC play and atop the conference standings.
Tassone opened the week with 14 digs and a service ace against Newberry on Friday, then posted 19 digs on Saturday at AU. She is currently fourth in the SAC in digs per set with an average of 4.68.
