Five SAC Teams Earn Spots in Latest NCAA Volleyball Regional Rankings
Five teams from the SAC have been ranked in this week’s NCAA Volleyball Southeast Region poll, the last release before Sunday’s NCAA Championship selections.
INDIANAPOLIS – Five teams from the SAC have been ranked in this week's NCAA Volleyball Southeast Region poll, the last release before Sunday's NCAA Championship selections.
Wingate remains the highest-ranked SAC team at No. 2 in the region. The Bulldogs wrapped up the regular-season conference title by going 26-2 overall and 16-2 in the league. WU, which has won 17-straight matches, will be the No. 1 seed at the 2012 Food Lion SAC Volleyball Championship.
Tusculum, the SAC Championship's No. 2 seed, maintained its ranking from last week of No. 4. The Pioneers finished the regular season 20-6 overall and 14-4 in league matches, and have won seven straight.
Lincoln Memorial also held its same rankings from last week's poll at No. 5 in the region. The Railsplitters enter the SAC Championship as the No. 3 seed after going 20-12 overall and 12-6 in the conference.
Lenoir-Rhyne and Newberry traded positions from last week, with L-R moving up a spot to No. 6 and Newberry dropping one to No. 7.
Lenoir-Rhyne finished the regular season 19-10 overall and 11-7 in the SAC, while Newberry went 17-13 overall and 10-8 in the league.
2012 NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship selections will be announced on a live NCAA.com selection show on Sunday night at 10 p.m.
