Wingate’s Potter, Tusculum’s Sarmiento Take Home SAC Volleyball Weekly Honors
Following the final week of the 2012 SAC volleyball regular season, Wingate sophomore Lexi Potter and Tusculum junior Ashley Sarmiento have been picked as the conference’s weekly award winners, it was announced on Monday.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Following the final week of the 2012 SAC volleyball regular season, Wingate sophomore Lexi Potter and Tusculum junior Ashley Sarmiento have been picked as the conference's weekly award winners, it was announced on Monday.
Potter, the SAC Player of the Week, helped Wingate secure its seventh-straight regular-season conference title by averaging 3.08 kills, 1.75 digs and 1.58 per set in the Bulldogs' three victories. She also hit an impressive 45.1-percent on the week with just five errors.
Potter's top performance of the week came in a 3-2 victory at Lincoln Memorial, where she just missed a triple double with 16 kills, nine digs and nine blocks.
The North Liberty, Iowa native finished the regular season as the SAC leader in hitting percentage at 31.9-percent.

Sarmiento was selected as the SAC Specialist of the Week after leading her team to a perfect 3-0 record that secured the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Food Lion SAC Volleyball Championship.
Sarmiento averaged 13.22 assists and 1.89 digs per set in TC's wins over Mars Hill, Brevard and Lenoir-Rhyne. She also added three kills on the week.
The setter turned in her best performance of the week on Tuesday in a 3-0 win over Mars Hill, finishing with 41 assists, six digs and three blocks.
Sarmiento finished the regular season fourth in the SAC with 908 assists.
