SAC Lands Five Volleyball Student-Athletes on Capital One Academic All-District Team
Five SAC volleyball student-athletes have earned spots on the Capital One Academic All-District Team, CoSIDA and Capital One announced on Thursday.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Five SAC volleyball student-athletes have earned spots on the Capital One Academic All-District Team, CoSIDA and Capital One announced on Thursday.
SAC student-athletes accounted for half of the 10-member District III Team, which also includes schools from Conference Carolinas and the Peach Belt.
The Capital One Academic All-America and All-District program was developed to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Anderson and Tusculum led the SAC's selections with two apiece. AU was represented by sophomore Meghan Cautero and sophomore Shannon Gillespie. Cautero is a pre-engineering major while Gillespie is studying education. Both carry perfect 4.0 GPAs.
TC, meanwhile, placed juniors Caitlyn Dean and Ashley Sarmiento on the Capital One Academic All-District Team. Dean carries a 3.37 GPA studying nursing, while Sarmiento has a 3.91 GPA in mathematics and math education.
Wingate's Grace Krauser earned the SAC's final spot on the team. A senior, Krauser has a perfect 4.0 GPA majoring in sociology.
All five student-athletes are now eligible for the Capital One Academic All-America Team, which will be announced next month.
