INDIANAPOLIS – Each of the five SAC volleyball programs ranked in the initial NCAA Division II Volleyball Southeast Region poll have maintained their positions in this week's release, it was announced on Wednesday.
Wingate was once against the top-ranked team in the Southeast Region after extending its winning streak to 15 matches. By defeating Catawba on Tuesday, the Bulldogs have clinched at least a share of their seventh-straight SAC regular-season title.
WU is currently 24-2 overall and 14-2 in the SAC. The Bulldogs haven't lost since Sept. 21 at Lenoir-Rhyne.
Tusculum remained at No. 4 in the regional poll this week. The Pioneers have been hot of late too, winning five-straight matches.
TC, which is 18-6 overall and 12-4 in the SAC, needs wins in its final two matches and a pair of Wingate losses this weekend to earn a share of the regular-season conference championship.
Just behind Tusculum are No. 5 Lincoln Memorial, No. 6 Newberry and No. 7 Lenoir-Rhyne. All three programs have clinched spots in next week's Food Lion SAC Volleyball Championship.
LMU is 11-5 in the SAC, while Newberry is 9-8 and L-R is 10-6.
The regional rankings are the official resource used by the NCAA Division II Volleyball Committee during the NCAA Championship selection process.
