L-R’s Rhyne, Tusculum’s Dean Earn SAC Volleyball Weekly Awards
Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore Haley Rhyne has been named the SAC Volleyball Player of the Week, while Tusculum junior Caitlyn Dean was selected as the league’s Specialist of the Week, it was announced on Monday.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore Haley Rhyne has been named the SAC Volleyball Player of the Week, while Tusculum junior Caitlyn Dean was selected as the league's Specialist of the Week, it was announced on Monday.
Rhyne led L-R to a 2-0 start in SAC play last week with a pair of double-doubles. In the Bears' matchup with Newberry, Rhyne tallied 16 kills and 11 digs, leading her team to a 3-2 victory.
The outside hitter then recorded a career-high 22 kills to go along with 13 digs in L-R's comeback win against Anderson.
Behind Rhyne, the Bears have won five matches in a row.

Dean earned SAC Specialist of the Week honors after helping guide Tusculum to a pair of SAC wins last week, including an upset victory over No. 16 Wingate that snapped the Bulldogs' 83-straight conference match and 59-straight regular season match winning streaks.
The win was the Pioneers' first over a ranked opponent in program history.
Dean opened her week with 35 digs in TC's win at Catawba, then followed with 38 digs, four assists and a service ace against Wingate.
The libero has keyed Tusculum to a 7-2 record in 2012, including six-straight victories.
