SAC Volleyball Weekly Awards go to Tusculum’s Voelker, Wingate’s Cooke
Tusculum’s Kassie Voelker has been named the SAC Volleyball Player of the Week and Wingate’s Alison Cooke the league’s Specialist of the Week, it was announced on Monday.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Tusculum's Kassie Voelker has been named the SAC Volleyball Player of the Week and Wingate's Alison Cooke the league's Specialist of the Week, it was announced on Monday.
Voelker helped lead Tusculum to a perfect 4-0 record at the Anderson Invitational last week by averaging 3.25 kills and 1.08 digs per set while hitting a team-best .535. She also added six aces and six blocks on the week and committed just one hitting error in 71 attempts.
The junior's best performance of the week came in TC's 3-0 victory over Limestone, where she recorded 14 kills, four digs and a pair of aces while hitting .778.

Cooke was selected as the league's Specialist of the Week for the second time in as many weeks after averaging 6.82 assists and 4.18 digs per set as Wingate went 5-0. She recorded double-doubles in four of the Bulldogs' five matches.
Cooke saved her top performance of the week for Wingate's biggest match. In a replay of last season's NCAA Regional Final against No. 15 Flagler, the sophomore tallied 30 assists and 28 digs as WU took the contest, 3-1.
