NCAA Volleyball Championship Southeast Regional Roundup
WINGATE, N.C. -- Five SAC teams were in action on Friday at the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship Southeast Region quarterfinals on the campus of Wingate University. No. 4 Catawba 3, No. 5 Lincoln Memorial 2
Catawba College senior outside hitter Shay Meeks (Kings Mountain, NC/Kings Mountain HS) piled up 21 kills to lead the fourth-seeded Indians past number five seed Lincoln Memorial University in NCAA Southeast region quarterfinal action Friday evening in Cuddy Arena. Catawba won by scores of 25-15, 20-25, 25-21, 21-25 and 15-11 to improve to 24-7 overall and advance to the regional semifinals. LMU ends its season at 22-7 overall. [More]
No. 1 Wingate 3, No. 8 Lees McRae 1
The top-seeded and 14th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs rallied back after dropping the first set, defeating the eight-seeded Lees-McRae College Bobcats 3-1 in quarterfinal action of the 2011 NCAA Volleyball Championship Southeast Regional Friday night in Cuddy Arena. The Bulldogs won by scores of 23-25, 25-19, 25-19 and 25-14 to improve to 31-0 overall, moving on to the regional semifinals for the fourth-straight year. Lees-McRae ends its season at 27-9 overall. Brendyce Budd recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 16 digs to lead third-seeded Armstrong Atlantic State University to a 3-0 win over No. 6 seed Tusculum College Friday afternoon in the opening match of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional. [More]

It was a great experience for the Newberry College volleyball
team to make its first ever NCAA Tournament appearance.
Unfortunately for the Wolves, they ran in to a red hot Flagler team
which won its 13th consecutive match 3-0 (25-11, 25-9, 25-15). The
loss ends Newberry's season at 16-16. [More]
