SAC Maintains Stronghold on NCAA Volleyball Southeast Region Rankings
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Seven South Atlantic Conference volleyball teams appear in this week's NCAA Volleyball Southeast Region Rankings, up one from the previous week.
The highest-ranked team in the poll is Wingate at No. 2, which has clinched the SAC championship and is just two wins shy of a perfect regular season. The Bulldogs trail only Armstrong Atlantic St. in the rankings.
After Flagler at No. 3, the SAC then holds the poll's five spots in No. 4 Lincoln Memorial, No. 5 Catawba, No. 6 Tusculum, No. 7 Newberry, No. 8 Carson-Newman and No. 9 Lenoir-Rhyne.
Newberry is a new addition to the rankings on the merits of a current four-match winning streak. The Wolves now stand at 15-12 overall.
LMU and Catawba are currently tied for the No. 2 spot in the SAC standings - both at 12-4 -- with two to play.
The NCAA Regional Rankings are the official poll used in the Division II Volleyball Championship selection process. The Southeast Region includes the Peach Belt and Conference Carolinas, in addition to the SAC.
