SAC Volleyball a Strong Presence in First NCAA Regional Rankings
INDIANAPOLIS - SAC volleyball programs have earned six of the 10 spots in the first NCAA Southeast Region rankings of the season, which are compiled by the NCAA Division II Volleyball Committee.
The Committee will release updated rankings each week leading up to championship selections.
The SAC's highest-ranked team is Wingate at No. 2, which is in the midst of a dominant 23-0 season. The Bulldogs have won 78-consecutive conference matches, and 46-straight overall in the regular season.
Wingate has clinched at least a tie of the SAC regular season title. The Bulldogs were ranked 15th in the most recent AVCA national top 25.
Lincoln Memorial, currently second in the SAC standings, is ranked fourth in the poll. The Railsplitters are 17-5 overall and 11-4 in the league.
Catawba, Tusculum and Carson-Newman appear at No. 5, No. 6 and No. 7, respectively, while Lenoir-Rhyne is ninth in the rankings.
Conference Carolinas and the Peach Belt are the other two leagues represented in the Southeast Region.
