Catawba’s Meeks, Raye Named Volleyball Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. - After leading Catawba to a pair of wins that kept the school tied for the No. 2 spot in the SAC standings, the Indians' Shay Meeks and Jordan Raye have been named the league's volleyball Players of the Week.

Meeks, the Player of the Week, led Catawba by posting 21 kills against Mars Hill, then a career-high 28 kills in a victory over Tusculum.

On the week, Meeks averaged 6.1 kills and three digs per set, while hitting .385.

Raye, the Specialist of the Week, guided a Catawba offense that hit .269 as a team on the week. She topped the 50 assist mark in both matches, finishing with 51 against Mars Hill and 52 versus Tusculum.

She also averaged 4.12 digs and one kill per-set on the week.

Catawba is currently knotted with Lincoln Memorial for second place in the league standings at 10-4 in conference play.
