Wingate’s Hilton, Willis Named SAC Volleyball Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- After leading Wingate to a 3-0 week that extended its SAC winning streak to 76-straight matches, Bulldog student-athletes Anna Hilton and Liz Willis earned the SAC Volleyball weekly awards.

Hilton, the league's Player of the Week, had double-digit kills in all three matches, hitting .300 or better in each contest, while notching two double-doubles.

She had 16 kills, 15 digs, four blocks and four assists in the win at Catawba, then 12 kills and 12 digs in the Carson-Newman sweep. She capped her week with 10 kills in 17 swings against LMU, not committing an error to hit .588 while adding eight digs.

Willis, the SAC Specialist of the Week, orchestrated a Wingate offense that hit .260 for the week. Willis led the offense to a .370 hitting percentage against LMU Saturday, a season-high for the Bulldogs in SAC play.

Willis had 46 assists and 16 digs at Catawba, while handing out 46 assists against Carson-Newman. She also tallied 41 assists and seven digs against LMU.

This marks the third time in 2011 that Hilton and Willis have earned the SAC weekly awards.
