Anderson’s Jamie Lancaster Receives NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship
ANDERSON, S.C. - Former Anderson University volleyball standout Jamie Lancaster has been awarded the school's first-ever National Collegiate Athletic Association post-graduate scholarship as announced recently by the NCAA.
Lancaster, a native of Fountain Inn, S.C., was one of only 29 male and 29 female fall sports student-athletes receiving $7,500 each from the NCAA. Similar awards were given to winter and spring student-athletes, totaling 174 individual winners.
To qualify, student-athletes must excel academically and
athletically, be in their final year of eligibility and plan to
pursue graduate study. Student-athletes must also maintain at least
a 3.2 grade-point average and be nominated by their institution's
faculty athletics representative.
Lancaster earned First-Team All-South Atlantic Conference honors following her senior campaign and was named the SAC Volleyball Scholar-Athlete, while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA and majoring in kinesiology. She plans on pursuing a doctor of physical therapy degree in May at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
Created in 1964, NCAA postgraduate scholarships promote and encourage education by rewarding the Association's most accomplished student-athletes. Additional information is available on the NCAA website.
