Six SAC Volleyball Teams In NCAA Region Rankings
INDIANAPOLIS -- The NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Committee has released this week's regional rankings, with six South Atlantic Conference teams ranked in the top 10 of the Southeast Region.
Wingate University remains ranked No. 1 in the region. The Bulldogs are 22-1 overall and 15-0 in the SAC, riding a 20-match winning streak. Wingate has been the top-ranked team in the region in every poll since the start of the 2008 season. The Bulldogs have hosted the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament the last two years.
Tusculum College is third in the rankings. Lincoln Memorial moves up to fourth, followed by Carson-Newman in seventh. Anderson is eighth, while Lenoir-Rhyne University enters this week's poll at No. 9.
The rankings include the top 10 teams in each of the eight regions, with records through October 25. The next rankings will be released November 3. The national selections will be Nov. 14. Tournament champions from the SAC, Peach Belt Conference and Conference Carolinas will receive automatic bids to NCAA Southeast Regional in November. The five remaining top-ranked programs will earn at-large bids to the eight-team regional.
Eight eight-team regional tournaments will be played Nov. 18-21 at campus sites. The quarterfinals, semifinals and championship will be Dec. 2-4 at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Ky.
