Wingate’s Billo, Carson-Newman’s Cutter Named Volleyball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Wingate University outside hitter Lauren Billo and Carson-Newman College setter Stephanie Cutter have been named Volleyball Player and Specialist of the Week, the league announced Monday. The duo win the award for the second week in a row.
Billo, a junior from Orland Park, Ill. (Carl Sandburg HS), averaged 4.33 kills per set, while hitting .328 as the 23rd-ranked Bulldogs notched another perfect week in SAC action, clinching their fourth straight regular season SAC title. Billo had 13 kills and six digs in the 3-0 win at Lenoir-Rhyne Tuesday. She had 13 kills, four digs and an ace in the 3-0 win over Newberry Saturday. Billo hit over .320 in both matches, committing only four errors in 67 attacks. She ranks second in the SAC in kills and hitting percentage on the season.

Cutter, a senior from Murfreesboro, Tenn. (Univ. of South Alabama), helped the Lady Eagles to a 3-0 week as she posted two double-doubles and was a kill and two digs away from a triple-double on the week. Tuesday against Mars Hill, she had 19 assists, nine kills and eight digs as the Lady Eagles won by a 3-0 score. Friday against Lenoir-Rhyne, Cutter posted 34 assists and 17 digs for her seventh double-double of the season and followed that performance up with a week-high 25 assists and 13 digs. Carson-Newman hit .291 on the week thanks to Cutter's setting as she posted 8.0 assists per set.
